The factory intercooler piping for the 1.6L Turbo has a small resonator pipe installed just after the turbo compressor outlet.

We believe this is to reduce any compressor noises for the driver. You can see it in the CAD rendered photo below.

The stock pipe is baffled on the inside which that creates a disturbance in air flow. Our replacement helps get airflow towards a laminar flow condition by reducing pressure drop, and results in slightly better throttle response and a couple horsepower over the rev range. It's not much, but every little bit does help.

The plug is also made to exact OEM measurements for fitment. This ensures you have a direct, perfect fitting replacement. The Pipe is made from durable 6061-T6 Aluminum pipe with a .07" wall thickness.

1.6T Intercooler Resonator Delete Pipe (Includes Clamps)

Pull the factory tips off the bolts, some are in a crappy location and are hard to get too, but once you pop those off, slide both sides off the OEM (you won't hurt the hoses, It's okay to use some muscle while twisting and turning). I did this install at the same time I put the EM3 engine mount on, you're literally right next to it. The night after, I did a secondary res delete on my exhaust, so I am not going to BS you about how it makes the car sound, because I wake up the neighbors every morning now. I can tell you, however, the stock OEM is heavier (and less weight = always good), and you can look inside and see how it would impede the air flow. Get it, throw it on.

**Note for install: feel for the “rolled” ends, you'll want to bolt your clamps just past those points, so make sure your pipe is equally installed on both sides. Hand tighten, don't go all he-man and sh*t bending the crap out of the pipe, if you are super paranoid, just check it now and then, but it isn't going anywhere.

**NOTE#2: if you're looking at the new intercooler hot pipe that SXTH created, it will replace this, so… don't waste money if you got deep pockets, go with that instead.

Great Cheap Mod

Relatively easy to install. Definitely more turbo noise, and maybe a little more pep!
