If you are experiencing surging with your stock wastegate solenoid or you are planning on calibrating your ECU (tuning), our suggestion is to upgrade your stock wastegate solenoid to a Pierburg Solenoid that operates at a higher efficiency and speed (not applicable on 2019+ VT).

This Pierburg Solenoid is a much faster operating valve that will help eliminate fluttering and surging. If you are sporting an upgraded ECU Calibration or a big turbo, you can still retain factory operation without worry.



The Pierburg is a direct solenoid operated 3-way poppet valve. It features a short stroke solenoid, a balanced poppet and powerful return spring. These features translate into high shifting forces, fast consistent response times, and long life.

When the stock valve is retained on the vehicle it can cause a surging effect in boost with an upgraded ECU or turbocharger. Changing to a Pierburg Solenoid will eliminate this effect and smooth your boost curve.

Smooth Acceleration

I installed the wastegate solenoid upgrade on my 2018 Hyundai Elantra Sport DCT several weeks ago and it solved about 90% of the hesitation and surging issues on my car. Car feels a lot better, more enjoyable to drive day to day and no check engine lights. Should have purchased years ago, definitely worth it!

What everyone else said is true. It really makes the car run smoother. I always had a hard time going from 2nd to 3rd under med/hard throttle, the car would hesitate then decide to pick up boost. Now it just pulls through the gears. The car is legitimately faster now.
