Toyota Tacoma CPLT Intake Is Now SEMA Certified

Our Toyota Tacoma CPLT Intake Is Now SEMA Certified – CARB Application Underway

We’re proud to announce that the SXTH Element Toyota Tacoma CPLT Intake System has officially earned SEMA Certification for 49-state emissions legality. This means our intake system has been independently tested and verified to meet federal EPA emissions standards under the EPA’s 2020 Tampering Policy, making it legal for use in all states except California.

What SEMA Certification Means

SEMA Certified is a voluntary program run by the SEMA Garage to test, evaluate, and confirm that aftermarket parts do not increase vehicle emissions beyond the limits set by the EPA. For our Tacoma CPLT Intake, that meant a full series of tests on a representative 2024–2025 Toyota Tacoma equipped with the 2.4L turbocharged gasoline engine.

These tests included:

  • FTP-75 urban driving emissions cycle

  • US06 aggressive driving cycle

  • SC03 air conditioning load cycle

  • Full OBD system checks to confirm proper readiness and no fault codes

The results were clear – our intake system stayed well within LEV3 ULEV50 / Tier 3 Bin 50 emissions standards.

How This Opens the Door for California Approval

Because our product is now SEMA Certified, we can submit for a CARB Executive Order (EO). This EO is what’s required to install the product legally on emissions-controlled vehicles in California. Our CARB application is already underway, and emissions testing for California-specific requirements is scheduled to wrap up by November 2025.

Why This Matters

For customers in the 49 states covered by our SEMA Certification, this is your green light to enjoy the performance benefits of our Tacoma CPLT Intake System while staying emissions-compliant. For California customers, this is a big step toward making the intake fully legal once the CARB EO is issued.

At SXTH Element, we’ve always focused on designing products that push performance without compromising compliance. This milestone proves that performance and responsibility can go hand-in-hand.

This is what i came to the site to find out. As a Californian and first time Tacoma owner, I am pumped to see an intake making its way through our undoubtedly unnecessarily complex EO process. As Aaron’s bio mentioned, the Trail Pipe is “a super affordable entry point into off-roading mods” and that is where I started. Having my truck now sing a slightly different tune makes me eager to further enhance that song with a little extra whistle from the turbo. I will be keeping an eye out for CA availability.
