Real-World Results: CAMTuning’s 2025 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Dyno Testing

|Nathan Amons

When CAMTuning strapped their 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road to the dyno for a full day of testing, the results were better than anyone expected. After 39 pulls on 91-octane pump gas, the numbers spoke clearly: +70 wheel horsepower and +51 wheel torque over stock with our Toyota Tacoma CPLT Intake and 2024+ Toyota Tacoma Front Mount Intercooler.

These results were confirmed and discussed in detail on the Tacoma4G forum by CAMTuning during their public test session

The Testing Process

CAMTuning ran a detailed series of tests to separate gains from each component and tuning change. They tested:

  • Stock truck on factory calibration

  • Stock truck with a CAMTuning custom tune

  • SXTH CPLT Intake on stock calibration

  • SXTH CPLT Intake with custom tuning

  • Full setup: CPLT Intake + upgraded front mount intercooler with optimized tune

All runs were performed on standard 91-octane E10 fuel. The results reflect what you can expect in the real world, not idealized lab conditions

Plug-and-Play Power: +12whp with the CPLT Intake

The Toyota Tacoma CPLT Intake delivered a 12-horsepower gain on the stock ECU. No tuning, no CELs, no warranty concerns. Just bolt it on and enjoy a noticeable bump in throttle response and mid-range pull.

The dyno chart shows the green line, representing the CPLT intake on the stock tune, outpacing the orange baseline through the entire RPM range. It’s clean, simple performance that you can feel on day one.

Maximum Power: +70whp / +51wtq with Full Setup

When CAMTuning combined the CPLT Intake and Front Mount Intercooler with a refined custom calibration, the Tacoma’s 2.4L turbo engine came alive.

The result was a 70 horsepower and 51 torque increase over stock, all on 91-octane pump gas. That’s a 23 percent gain in power that completely transforms the truck’s response and driving experience.

Why the Setup Works

CPLT Intake: Designed to improve airflow and reduce restriction, the CPLT system lets the turbo move more air efficiently. Even on a stock tune, the ECU adjusts timing and boost within its limits to take advantage of the added flow.

Front Mount Intercooler: The upgraded core keeps intake air temperatures lower and more consistent. Cooler air is denser air, which means more oxygen per cubic inch and a safer, more powerful combustion cycle.

Together, the two components create a balanced system that increases power, improves reliability, and maintains performance under load or heat.

39 Dyno Runs of Real Testing

CAMTuning didn’t settle for a few quick pulls. They spent a full day testing, logging, and refining the setup. In total, 39 dyno runs were completed to make sure every result was verified and repeatable.

That’s the kind of data and validation that separates real performance parts from marketing claims.

What This Means for Tacoma Owners

  • For stock setups: +12whp gain with the CPLT Intake, no tune needed

  • For tuned builds: +70whp and +51wtq with the CPLT Intake and Front Mount Intercooler

  • For everyone: Reliable, dyno-proven power on 91-octane pump gas

Whether you want a quick bolt-on or a full performance build, these results show what’s possible with well-engineered components and proper tuning.

What’s Next

CAMTuning plans to test this same combination with an ethanol blend soon. Based on these results, there’s still more potential to unlock.

If you’re ready to upgrade your 2025 Tacoma TRD Off-Road, both the Toyota Tacoma CPLT Intake and the 2024+ Toyota Tacoma Front Mount Intercooler are available now.

If you’re near CAMTuning, they’ve already perfected the calibration for this setup and can get your truck dialed in.
