Real-World Dyno Results: Tuning the 2025 Tacoma i-FORCE MAX Hybrid with CamTuning

|Nathan Amons
The 4th Generation Tacoma i-FORCE MAX Hybrid powertrain is an impressive piece of engineering, but enthusiasts know there is always more potential left on the table by the factory. At SXTH Element, we know you want more than just estimates. You want hard data.

We have the official dyno results from CamTuning to show exactly what this platform can do with the right calibration.

The Test Vehicle Setup

Context is critical when looking at dyno charts. Dyno numbers can fluctuate based on variables like ambient temperature, fuel quality, and vehicle modifications.

The test subject for this session was a 2025 Tacoma i-FORCE MAX Hybrid. The truck featured the following specs:

  • Engine: Mechanically stock (no intake or exhaust modifications)

  • Fuel: 91 Octane

  • Tires: 35-inch tires

The tire size is a major factor here. Large 35-inch tires add significant rotational mass which typically results in lower baseline numbers on a chassis dyno compared to stock tires. Despite the heavy rubber, the results speak for themselves.

The Dyno Results

The graph below compares the baseline stock run (Red) against the CamTuning file (Blue).

Peak Gains:

  • Horsepower: +45 Wheel Horsepower (whp)

  • Torque: +46 Wheel Torque (wtq)

While peak numbers are great for bragging rights, the most important aspect of a truck tune is the "area under the curve." This refers to the usable power available in the RPM range where you spend most of your time driving.

Midrange Performance:

Looking at the graph, the separation between the red and blue lines in the midrange is substantial. The CamTuning calibration delivers approximately +75 wheel torque through the middle of the RPM band. This is the power you feel when merging onto the highway, towing a trailer, or climbing a steep grade off-road.

The Verdict

The CamTuning file transforms the driving experience of the hybrid Tacoma. The tuner noted that despite the heavy rotational mass of the 35s, "this truck rips."

The power delivery is smooth and consistent. It eliminates the sluggish feeling often associated with lifting a truck and adding larger tires. You get a factory-like smoothness with significantly more urgency when you step on the throttle.
