Dyno Results from Our 2024+ Tacoma, 2025+ 4Runner & 2024+ Land Cruiser Front Mount Intercooler

At SXTH Element, we don't release products until we’ve tested them relentlessly and seen results worth talking about. Our new front mount intercooler for the 2024+ Toyota Tacoma & 2025+ 4Runner and 2024+ Toyota Land Cruiser was designed to solve real-world problems in the factory system, and our dyno testing proves it does exactly that.

The Test Setup

This dyno session focused on the intercooler alone. We tested the truck without our air intake system installed to isolate and measure the true performance benefits of the intercooler upgrade. Testing was performed in 4th gear on an SR5 trim. Below 3800~4,000 RPM, manual throttle modulation was necessary to avoid a forced downshift by the ECU, which slightly skews the low-RPM data. However, above 4,000 RPM, the results were extremely consistent, clear, and repeatable across every run.

The Results

When comparing the SXTH Element intercooler to the factory unit:

  • Peak horsepower increased from 248.60 hp to 264.10 hp, a gain of 15.5 hp.

  • Peak torque climbed from 288.58 lb-ft to 302.97 lb-ft, adding 14.4 lb-ft.

  • Midrange power showed a smoother curve and higher average output across all dyno sessions.

  • Even the worst-case scenario beat stock numbers.  The graph below shows the coolest, best OEM run (red) vs the most heat soak SXTH run (blue).

This means better throttle response, improved pull under load, and more consistent performance in real-world conditions, all without requiring a tune.

Here we can overlay all the dyno runs below.  The graph chart shows them in order, first 3 are OEM and the last 3 are SXTH.  We can see some ignition timing being pulled between 3500-4000rpm for some reason in the first 2 SXTH runs, while smoothing out on the 3rd SXTH run.  If the first two had no hiccup, those areas would have also shown higher power in that area.  Pretty interesting!

Here is also where you see the larger SXTH core has its ability to make more power as the curves are clearly separate from one another.  By increasing core thickness and height along with its Bar/Plate design, the extra flow and larger thermal capacity allows more power to be made, even without any tuning whatsoever!

Here we can zoom in below and the difference becomes even more apparent.

Why the Factory Intercooler Falls Short

The stock intercooler has a relatively small core and higher pressure drop, limiting its ability to keep intake temps down under boost. This leads to heat soak and inconsistent power, especially during towing, hill climbs, or spirited driving. Our system directly addresses those weaknesses.
