2024+ Toyota Tacoma Off-Road Trail Pipe

If anyone reads this, you need a 14mm and dropping the spare tire makes this a breeze. You can do it on flat ground.

For the good. Fitment, and fabrication is perfect. It is a shame that the part is not visible, because the TIG welds are gorgeous. The part bolts right up to the stock flange with the factory nuts. It was less than a 15 minute install from start to finish. The pipe dumps before the rear axle, and is also higher than the rear axle, so you have significantly more clearance than the factory exhaust.

Now for the only con, that everyone glosses over. The first thing I noticed while driving the truck is a marked increase in resonant tone at low speed, low RPM. It increases with volume when the turbo spools. It becomes quite clear why the Toyota engineers threw a resonator on the truck in the stock system. The tone goes away once the truck is at highway speed, unless there is an incident of low RPM, high boost (ie a hill). It does not bother me enough to put the stock exhaust back on the truck, as the aesthetic and utility of the piece are worth the noise trade-off, but I think it is important to note because it will bother some people.

I loved that my Tacoma was so quiet driving down the road. Hated the low hanging exhaust pipe. Purchased the off road tail pipe to remove the low hanging tail pipe based on video and written reviews. Very simple install and love the look with the exhaust pipe no longer in view. However the truck now has a low droning noise at highway speeds 1.5 to 2K rpm’s. Definitely increases the cab noises. Don’t believe the reviews that this does not increase the noise level inside the truck. I may end up going to my local muffler shop with the original tail pipe and seeing if it can be modified to dump underneath the truck instead out the side. That way I get to keep the original arrestor which would do away with the droning noise.

The most affordable exhaust upgrade I've ever done. Over the years I've spent thousands on exhaust systems, mostly for the sound and some for the performance but it's always been at great expense. The 24 Tacoma has a view drawbacks; 1.) The turbo 4cyl is an engine no-one wants to hear. The V6 was better but can't match a V8. 2.) The shape of the exhaust is bulky and the exit point comes out at a critical clearance area for those who drive offroad. 3.) The weight of the exhaust system. With the EPA strangling the American car consumers to death and cutting the nuts off the last bit of performance via the exhaust with the weight and back pressure the OFFROAD TAILPIPE solves it all. Well at least what it can. Firstly, the terribly design factory exhaust is removed and replaced with a flawless titanium tip. It solves issues 2 and 3 as listed above. The install does require the rear to be jacked up and spare tire lowered to remove it. It's extremely simple with hand tools or an impact. Lastly, I will never get used to the sound of 4cyl but there exhaust sound makes it more tolerable. There is a noticeable change in sound, performance and fuel consumption. I'm not saying I gained 50hp and 20 mpg but I have noticed a power gain from the weight reduction and released back pressure as well as a measurable 2mpg fuel economy increase. It truly pays for it self within the first year.
