Developing the SXTH Element Side-Step Relocation Bracket for the 2024+ Tacoma
The 2024+ Toyota Tacoma brings new challenges and opportunities for aftermarket upgrades, and at SXTH Element we are always pushing to engineer solutions that improve both functionality and usability. Our latest product, the OEM Side-Step Relocation Bracket, is currently in development and coming soon to solve a key issue for Tacoma owners looking to install our recovery point while retaining the OEM side step.
The Challenge
The Tacoma's factory side step is positioned in a way that conflicts with our recovery point. This meant that owners had to choose between keeping their side step or installing a robust recovery point for off-road use. Our goal was to create a solution that allows both components to work together seamlessly.
The Solution: SXTH Element Side-Step Relocation Bracket
Our relocation bracket is a simple yet highly effective solution. By slightly repositioning the OEM side step, it enables the use of our recovery point without compromising ground clearance or usability.
- Material: Made from high-strength 304 stainless steel
- Finish: Powder-coated for durability in harsh environments
- Compatibility: Works with the OEM side step while allowing installation of the SXTH Element rear recovery point
Design and Development
During development, we focused on ensuring that our bracket maintained the factory-like fit and finish while providing an improved mounting position. The images below illustrate the key design changes:
- Red bracket: Represents the OEM mounting location
- Blue bracket: Shows the new position using our relocation bracket
By removing the factory mounting bracket and replacing it with ours, the side step is moved slightly, giving just enough clearance to mount the recovery point without interference.
