Installation Guide for TRC1

Tools/Materials Needed:

  • Throttle response controller kit (controller unit, wiring harness)
  • Zip ties
  • Flashlight

Time Required: 30–60 minutes

Step-by-Step Installation Instructions

1. Prepare the Vehicle

  • Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid any electrical issues during installation.

2. Locate the Accelerator Pedal Connector

  • Use a flashlight to locate the accelerator pedal under the driver-side dashboard.
  • Identify the wiring harness connected to the accelerator pedal. This connector is typically clipped to the top of the pedal assembly.

3. Disconnect the Accelerator Pedal Sensor Plug

  • Gently unplug the accelerator pedal’s sensor plug by pressing on the locking tab and pulling the plug out.
  • Be careful not to force or damage the plug, as this could affect the throttle system.

4. Connect the Throttle Response Controller

  • Take the wiring harness from the throttle response controller kit.
  • Plug the throttle controller harness into the factory accelerator pedal sensor plug (the one you just disconnected).
  • Connect the other end of the controller harness to the accelerator pedal where the factory plug was originally connected.
  • Ensure that all connections are secure and properly clicked into place.

5. Mount the Control Unit

  • Decide where you want to mount the throttle controller’s control unit in the cabin (usually on or near the dashboard for easy access).
  • Mount the controller using an adhesive pad or zip-ties provided by the manufacturer.
  • Keep in mind to route the wire neatly to avoid interference with the pedals.

6. Tidy Up the Wiring

  • Use zip ties to organize and secure any loose wiring underneath the dashboard.
  • Make sure the wires are clear of any moving parts, like the pedals, to prevent damage or interference.

7. Reconnect the Battery

  • Reconnect the negative terminal and tighten it securely.

8. Test the Installation

  • Insert the key and turn the ignition on (but do not start the engine yet).
  • Calibrate your throttle controller using the 'Learn' feature in the app and following the instructions.
  • Once complete, start the engine and verify the controller is functioning correctly by cycling through the different modes (Eco, Sport, Normal, etc.) to observe how the throttle response changes.

9. Final Adjustments

  • If needed, adjust the throttle response settings to your preferred driving style using the TRC1 Control App.
  • Ensure the control unit is securely mounted and that everything is functioning properly.

Tips:

  • If you notice any issues with the throttle response after installation (delays, warning lights, etc.), double-check the wiring and connections.
  • If you get a check engine light or experience an issue unplug your battery and start over.  The issue should resolve itself with a reset.

Once everything is properly installed and tested, enjoy your enhanced throttle response!
