The SXTH Element Engineering Titanium Stud Kit is designed to replace the factory turbocharger exhaust studs and reduce future chances of studs breaking or backing out.

Our upgraded turbine studs start with select Ti-6Al-4V stock (also referred to as Grade 5 Titanium) that is heat treated and machined to be an exact replacement for the factory stud. Each stud is polished and finished with a 4mm hex key to allow for easy installation, further reducing the chances of a stud backing out. 4 12-point low-profile nuts and 4 sintered washers (made from the same Ti-6Al-4V) are included for a complete package!

Material Properties

Our stud kit uses a special grade of titanium that is heat treated to a tensile yield strength of 880 MPa; factory studs use high strength steel with a tensile yield strength of 680 MPa. This increase in strength means that studs are less likely to snap, especially when heat cycled, which reduces the chances of exhaust leaks and difficult stud replacements. Additionally, our studs are 50% more resistant to thermal expansion; greatly decreasing the chance of stress fractures occuring.

Ti-6Al-4V is 45% lighter than high strength steel while also being more resistant to corrosion, making nuts easier to remove in the future.

Installation Directions

You MUST use Loctite Threadlocker Red 271 when installing the new studs. You will then have to use the "Two Nut Method" to torque the studs down to 35 lb-ft. After installing the downpipe, put the washers on facing the correct direction which is the flat side WITHOUT the bevel facing the nut. Then you MUST use Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 when installing the nuts and torque them down to 55 lb-ft. This is the only way you can guarantee that the nuts and studs won't back themselves out causing an exhaust leak. I am now on my third set of studs which has cost me $300. Don't expect customer support to provide you with the correct installation directions or warranty support if your nuts/studs back themselves out. Follow my directions exactly and you shouldn't have any issues!
