Elantra N CPLT Intake
Purchased for my spouse's new Elantra N. I did expect more than the thin plastic feeling material it was crafted with, especially at this price point, as the building block for the unit.
Granted, the supply and demand that SXTH is having to deal with, it is understandable. Hoses, top-notch, and you can also tell, someone went through a lot of manual labor to hand wrap the piping (I've seen some people complain about it, you obviously do not know what it is there for), so tip of the hat to the person or persons doing this for SXTH; thank you.
The installation is easy, please don't simply use the screws that SXTH provides; use washers in between the 3 frame contact points (they are around 8-10Â mm I believe), you EASILY run the risk of bending, cracking, drilling through the mounting point bottoms, if you use a drill. Just get a screwdriver or ratchet, w/ about a 12in extension (magnetic preferably) and hand tighten the box till firm, then roll it back a bit loose till the end. (see below)
Leave EVERYTHING a bit loose for adjustment. The hoses are a bit of a pain, I'm not going to get into a debate on lube or tricks of the trade, but I would recommend something even if it's a dribble of water to help set the hoses and pipe where you want it. Be mindful of where you hide your hose grips (remember you'll need to get those off again later lol)
I highly recommend, for those that have never used these types of filters before, get a "hydro-shield". If you don't know what that is, just google it. This could also be another "drop down" purchase option; I'd totally pay a mark-up to get one that says SXTH on it. *wink-wink, nudge-nudge* - or hey, i'm so amazing you could just surprise me.
I digress, this intake "works as intended" meaning it's an enclosed cold air, that looks great and even better with a snorkel. This design is probably my favorite out of all of them (even without a carbon fiber option at this time), as it comes right up to the front bumper and uses the OEM clips and provides that "factory look" and truly feels like it belongs there.
So to conclude this wall of text, I do apologize, do yourself a favor and get one. You're not only providing your track ready vehicle with a quality cold-air intake, but you're helping to support a great company!
In the future when the supply & demand issues have subsided, hopefully we will be provided some personalizing options such as pipe/hose coloring, the window wording, "Blank/clear", "SXTH" or the SXTH "Symbol" (as shown in the picture).
So to conclude, get it, you'll love it, looks great, some minor things I'd like to see improved upon, but great job by SXTH again with creating the best intake, that I've seen anywhere in the world yet; outside a 1/1 full carbon fiber version sitting somewhere that I don't know about.
I'm picky, but 5/5 stars from me. Customer service that is responsive, are empathetic and stand by their products makes this an easy rating for me. Well done!
